Welcome!
Mrs. Coeur is no longer classroom teaching, but you can enjoy the learning resources still here.
Third grade got a chance to travel back to 17th and 18th century America on Colonial Day last month. Thanks to all of the parents and teachers who participated!

Third graders shared Mayflower Journals today! For this writing project, students each chose a Pilgrim and wrote from his or her perspective in five entries. They wrote drafts, edited and re-worked, made final copies, and coffee "painted" and bound to make these fabulous pieces! A "well done" to everyone for capturing the big ideas and voices of Plimoth with these journals. Hi, everyone!
Students began their president game design plans and fact research in Social Studies class today. They were instructed to bring home their red folders, which contain all the paperwork that goes along with the project. Mrs. Wong has put together a fabulous project page at the link below, which contains links to the sites students may use for research, PDF copies of all the project paperwork, and reminders for citation. While additional sites may be interesting/useful, we're asking that students only record and use information from the four listed sites to keep the kids focused on well-maintained, reputable sites. http://applewildlibrary.weebly.com/presidents.html The game design plan is due next Monday, February 29th. I will review and approve the plans at that time, and then students may begin constructing their games. The final game board and timeline are due after March break, on Monday, March 28th. Students are welcomed to bring in work early, if finished before the due date. We will continue to work on some research in Social Studies as well, and so I will let students know when they need to bring back in their red project folders. Please be sure to check out the site and folder more project details! Happy researching/creating/President-ing! Get a peek at our great trip earlier this week! In class over the next few weeks, students will work on presenting the information they gathered. This week's Telegraph includes an update from Science teacher Maura Lyons, who will contribute frequently.
Also, please feel free to send in early any completed School Photo envelopes on Monday so they're set for Tuesday, though Tuesday works, too. Third grade is scheduled for photos around 9 AM. I'll send along info about our Plimoth Plantation trip next week, so keep an eye out! Hope every one can enjoy the sun a bit this weekend! |
